Stronger Brand Listings in Google

Oct 18, 2010 Author: Matt Ridout | Filed under: Internet News, Search Engines, seo

This is an observation I’ve noticed for the second week now, brands are occupying more of the organic SERPS for generic and long tailed search queries – previously this only happened on brand searches.

It was only a couple of months ago whereby Google gave more value to brands by letting them occupy up to 7-8 positions for their brand name (not great news for affiliates). This could of course be a test but it’s been happening for over a week in the UK now so I thought I’d share my findings.

Few screen grabs below (I liked the “Predators” film by the way):

You can see the “Show more results for …..” which is quite common at the top of the SERPS, however it’s now popping up elsewhere:

Google Test? Just 4 Organic Results In SERPS

Sep 27, 2010 Author: Matt Ridout | Filed under: Internet Fun, Search Engines

I know there are plenty of tests going on with Google at the moment but the latest one I discovered is quite surprising. Only 4 organic search results being listed with only 2 PPC results on the right, not the top.

I took a screen grab (see below):

The result happened when I was logged in to Google, searched through Google instant in the UK – let me know if anyone replicates?
