Thanks for such a great list and i dont think that you are promoting it. If people think that sharing knowledge is promotion then its useless to do seo. I am stumbling this page here http://lindsayhogan.stumbleupon.com/ and will share it with my whole stumbleupon group.

I must admit that this list baffles me as well - sorry but it really isn’t very useful as an SEO guide. SEO does not require or need social media or social traffic, it’s all about ranking top spot in the SE’s and these sites won’t tell you how to do it or even help you do it in any meaningful way as far as links go. Link baiting is a poor method and short term at best.

I do see where you are coming from though - using social media to drive traffic but this kind of traffic isn’t the type that spend money or click ads - they are readers not buyers. Yes you can build some links with it but given the huge time investment to do this - you will never outrank the SEO pros who can develop much better links at a much faster pace.

Let’s face it - you don’t get many optimized anchor text backlinks using social media - you get a lot of crappy links using your name/url/or click here in the anchor text. This doesn’t build keyword authority for the terms you are trying to rank well for.

I am not trying to entice an argument with you - I am quite successful at SEO and just wanted to point out that this is not the way I would do things and quite frankly I caution people to avoid wasting time using social media. I am not saying your method won’t work - it’s just not the best way to go about SEO.

Again, I don’t mean to Troll you and please check me out before getting upset - I do rank well for some of the most competitive keywords online - “make money online” and related terms.
